MICHAEL P. KERCHEVAL
President and Chief Executive Officer
International Council of Shopping Centers
Michael P. Kercheval was recently named President and Chief
Executive Officer of the International Council of Shopping
Centers (ICSC), becoming only the third CEO in the associations
forty-four year history. He joined ICSC as Executive Vice
President in January 2000 and was appointed Chief Operating
Officer the same year. Mr. Kercheval is responsible for the
day-to-day management of ICSCs global operations and
carrying out the associations strategic objectives.
Prior to joining ICSC, Mr. Kercheval was a senior executive
at Lend Lease Real Estate Investments, an Australia-based
global real estate company.
Following the completion of graduate work in economics at
Columbia University, Mr. Kercheval joined the Equitable Life
Assurance Society in 1982 as a Senior Economist in its investment
research area. Over the years, he held a series of positions
of consistently greater responsibility culminating with title
of Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager of Equitables
U.S. $12 billion commercial mortgage portfolio. When Equitable
merged its real estate operations with Lend Lease in 1997,
Kercheval played a key role in the transition management team
set-up by the two firms to bring together their 6,000 worldwide
employees and effectively integrate operations.
Most recently, Kercheval served as Principal and CEO of Lend
Lease Latin American Realty Advisors, Ltd, operating in Buenos
Aires, Argentina and Santiago, Chile. A graduate of the University
of Colorado with B.A. degrees in economics, and international
affairs, Kercheval earned an M.A. in economics from Columbia
University, New York, where he also completed the course work
for a Ph.D. Mike, his wife, Dana and their two children live
near Princeton, New Jersey.
