Travel Business Roundtable Helps Passengers "Prepare
for Takeoff"
WASHINGTON, DC. - November 19, 2002 - The Travel
Business Roundtable (TBR) today announced its participation
in Prepare for Takeoff, the Transportation Security
Administrations (TSA) new passenger awareness campaign
to inform travelers about new security measures at the nations
airports. The campaign will help passengers prepare for travel
before they go to the airport and assist them once they arrive.
Passengers are encouraged to actively participate in the
Prepare for Takeoff campaign by becoming familiar with
the new timesaving tips and recommendations to help minimize
stress. As a part of that effort, TBR is supporting the TSA
mission and has committed to help distribute educational information
to the public.
The three major objectives of the campaign are to:
 |
Prepare passengers for travel before they arrive at
the airport; |
 |
Decrease hassle for passengers at the airport; and |
 |
Increase the publics confidence in and use of
air travel. |
Public education will occur on two tracks - at home and at
the airport.
The Prepare for Takeoff campaign hopes to effect changes
in traveler behavior that support smooth and efficient air
travel.
 |
Educated passengers will arrive at airports equipped
with knowledge and realistic expectations. |
 |
They will be alerted to steps they can take to increase
security and to help them move through security checkpoints
more easily. |
 |
They will be less stressed and more likely to have a
satisfying experience. |
"We were eager to help passengers prepare to travel
through the nations airports, especially in light of
the recent changes," said Jonathan Tisch, TBR chairman
and chairman and CEO of Loews Hotels. "As we prepare
for the busy holiday travel season, the Travel Business Roundtable
is confident that these initiatives will better prepare travelers
and will help reduce the hassle factor experienced to date."
"The Prepare for Takeoff campaign is an integral
part of the TSAs overall plan for providing world class
security and world class customer service," said Adm.
James M. Loy, Acting Under Secretary of Transportation for
Security. "With leaders from the aviation, travel and
tourism industries participating, and cooperation from well-prepared
travelers, the TSAs resources can be more efficiently
focused on providing maximum security for everyone."
Other partners in this campaign include the airlines, travel
agents and customer service organizations that interact with
air passengers. Educational information and messages are available
on the TSA website at www.TSATravelTips.us
and at the Travel Business Roundtables site at www.tbr.org.
